Trip to Rhode Island

After CT, we headed to RI to stay in Little Compton and enjoy the area.
RI was a breath of fresh air. Everyone wore masks when needed and were very compliant, but also relaxed. Cases there have been very low, and we stuck to more rural spots. Plus it is gorgeous there!

We first had a picnic dinner in Bristol with a lobster roll for me and Mike and pizza for the kids. Followed up by ice cream...a big disappointment that it wasn't Daily Scoop...the location had been sold a couple weeks prior.

We settled into our airbnb in Little Compton. The next morning was Father's Day, so I managed to scoot out to a little general store and grab some local sausages and a local pancake mix. It was a nice surprise!

After that, we spent the day at Goosewing Beach and enjoyed the weather and beauty.

We went to Gray's Ice Cream at Four Corners in Tiverton that evening, and then had a family sardines game in this lovely garden nearby.

The next day, we hiked the Newport Cliff Walk. It was really fun, although a bit too hot. There didn't seem to be a breeze! (The rest of the trip was spectacularly mild weather, which we loved!)

After the Cliff Walk, we drive down Ocean Drive and took in the views. Then we headed to town to get chowder at the Black Pearl for Mike's 2nd Father's Day treat.

That evening we went to Westport Beach. That is one of the most lovely, beautiful beaches! The boys loved the ramble through the woods and dunes to get there. The water was so, so warm. And, everyone just jumped in the water, whether or not they had suits. It was a gorgeous place to take in the sunset!

We topped off the night with another ice cream at Wood's Ice Cream in Westport...somewhere I hadn't been before, and boy was it divine!

Trip to CT

We had such a lovely overnight trip to the Reed's home in Connecticut! It was so wonderful to be out of our own house and on the road. So wonderful to be with the Reeds, who literally shine with love and with the Spirit. So nice to be social and get to catch up with good friends. And, so nice to be doing something different and fun!

We spent lots of time catching up with them at their home and being spoiled with delicious food. We also got to visit their town lake and beach, and even go kayaking with them. The boys were so sweet with Sam and Emma. And Jen and Mark are such incredible friends and mentors for us. Their home is just filled with peace, love, and faith.

Lewis' Half Birthday!

We always celebrate this boy's half birthday!

I had been excited to do a party for this boy, especially since he's just finishing his STEM program, and he's had such a nice group through that. But, alas!

A family party it was! We really enjoyed celebrating our 11.5 year old!

Here was Daddy's amazing cut out for this year's birthday. This year was different than others...Lewis had endless, specific requests for exactly how he wanted the decorations and exactly how he wanted the food and exactly, exactly, exactly. He is so cute! Always knows exactly what he wants! I think gone are the days when Mike and I just get to surprise him with something!

Celebrating Toll Gate too

Toll Gate's 5th grade class did a drive-by graduation celebration by driving through the borough and having the town clap them out (distanced of course!). Our house was on the parade route, so the boys helped me decorate, and we celebrated all of Lewis' former class mates from Toll Gate.

Lewis handled the disappointments of coronavirus shut down amazingly. It was hard for him. The 5th graders would have had a field trip to NYC for the day. (I would have chaperoned :-( ) He would have had some really fun end of school activities and assemblies and a big clap out celebration by the whole school. He would have had a trip to the middle school...instead an online orientation with the principal. And, his boychoir would have had a 3 day trip to NYC, including a festival and performances at Carnegie Hall and a Broadway show. (I also would have chaperoned ;-( )

But, his school was amazing! The culture there is so fantastic and supportive and positive. They really treat each child as a special human being with endless potential. They organized a drive by clap out. Lewis got a really nice gift bag with goodies. He received a cool shirt. And, he got to hop out and take photos with his teachers and principal. It was really fun and exciting!

Here's Mr. Turnbull, the most amazing principal I might ever know! And, Ms. Clark and Ms. Shackelton...two of the most amazing teachers I think I'll ever know. Lewis had a superb year!
