Skytop Ice Skating

After snow tubing, we headed to the skating rink, which we had completely to ourselves. It was so fun to skate for 1-2 hours just us!

The boys also enjoyed giant jawbreakers we had bought them at a farm stand on the way up.

Besides the winter activities, we loved swimming in the pool, eating quite good food, watching videos in the room, and playing at the arcade. We were a bit tuckered out, but it was a fun weekend away!

Skytop Lodge Snow Tubing

We had a fun 2 day getaway to Skytop Lodge. When we stayed there in the summer, there was a problem with our room that didn't get resolved for the whole 1st day we were there. So, we asked for and received a free night's stay to compensate us for the trouble. We thought we'd try Skytop in the winter. It was really lovely!

Our favorite was probably the snow tubing. It was a gorgeous, sunny, warm afternoon. We got towed up the hill, so it was all fun with very little work for us!

Birthday Boy 3

Lewis gave Beau a really creative, thoughtful gift of a homemade, cardboard and tape carnival.

And we had my blackberry apple crumble and coffee cake from the gingered peachfor dessert.

Birthday Boy 2

Love this happy boy!

Birthday boy!

It was crepes for breakfast and the opening of Tetris in the morning.

Then lettuce wraps for dinner!

Early birthday gift for Beau

David was so cute and really wanted to buy a remote control car that could drive on walls for Beau's birthday. This was, in fact, the car he had been begging me to get him for his birthday. But he decided that it was "just the thing" for Beau.

Knowing that Beau does not like surprises, he took Beau to buy it the day before his birthday and then they happily played with it all afternoon.

Chinese New Year

We had a great time catching up with people at the Furner's CNY party this year. David loved the lion dance and lucky draw and all the fun touches.

Beau’s meet

Beau rocked his next swim meet!

He came in 1st in the 25 free. Placed 2nd and 3rd in the 25 breast, back, and butterfly. And lapped his competition in the 100 free. I was so excited for him and proud of his hard work!

Pinewood Derby

We had a great pinewood derby year for Lewis' last year in cub scouts.

Beau came in 3rd in the non-scout race, racing the same car he had used the previous year, but with new, fancy wheels.

Lewis came in 2nd after the whole race and was put in the top 8. He ended up in 3rd overall after those final races. So exciting! Plus, he had won two trophies in the beauty contest the night before - one for his den and one overall.

Fun day!

Lewis looking dapper

Just a handsome, happy boy!

Proud moments

I forgot Beau's shoes for church for after the meet, so here's what he sported.

David, proud of a lego set up.

David and his friends showing off an art project they made at school.

And Beau having happy birthday sung to him and his friends for the winter birthday celebration.

Beau’s first meet

Beau had his first meet of the year. He crushed it! He came in first in his heat in two strokes. In the overall results, he ended up with two silver medals and one bronze medal. We were so proud of him!

Skiing together

We can see it! This is going to be a really fun pastime for our family!

First time skiing!

We went to Spring Mountain - an easy, great beginner place outside of Philly. The boys had a total blast! They loved it! We all did lessons. Then Mike helped David the whole time while L & B flew down the mountain a million times on their own. And, I skied for the first time since I was 17. I was pretty proud of myself!

Cute boys

Lewis is always up for coming along for the littler kid things!

Cute hats & trains

Gogo and Baba sent the cutest hats for the boys.
And, we've been building trains up the wazoo!

Dutch Wonderland

We booked a little getaway for a couple days after Christmas. Just an overnight to Lancaster County to take a trip to Dutch Wonderland. It's just a small, little amusement park (just my speed!). They had a Christmas lights display. Unfortunately the two main roller coasters were closed for clod weather. But, we still had a super time.

We stayed overnight in a cheap hotel with Zeez's Hilton discount. Swam in the pool. Caught a sacrament meeting the next day. (YSA was off for the holidays.) We were planning to go to Longwood Gardens the next day, but it was pouring, so we just headed home.
