Cute Sunday Photos

David requested Hot Chocolate Floats just the ones that Jonathan makes. So, we put our hot chocolate floats (deemed not quite as good as Jonathans, but still pretty good!!!) in to go cups and headed out the swing set for a fall scripture study outside. 

Then the kids and I played a few games before heading in to get ready for real church.

I had gone shopping the previous weekend at a sidewalk sale in Princeton for this really high end brand that was giving huge discounts. I got this new little jacket for David, and he is quite tickled with it. 

This makes me a touch nervous, but does look quite fun to play on that old satellite dish. 

I find myself often in awe, and even a bit envious of Lewis' amazing mind and creativity. He is never without a project or an idea or something to do. He literally never experiences boredom. He just always has some idea of something to make or do! Here is his picture. He had Mike forge the signature, and I think this will be appearing at a later date as a prank on Beau to make him think he got a signed picture from the author. 

Diwali with SG Friends

We had such a fun Diwali celebration with Sarah and Lulu and the Ekbergs. Nikki had a photo shoot down in Princeton, and so we all got together afterwards. Indian food, Rangoli, henna, smores, sparklers, diyas, and lots of chatting.

We feel so lucky to live close enough to these friends!

Amish Country & Thomas

We had to go see Thomas again! 

                                           

The kids always get a couple days off in November for a teacher's conference, and Thomas the Tank Engine was coming to town. We didn't get tickets this year because of covid. But, we did make a great day of it. Watching Thomas go by. Lunch outdoors by the trains. Horse and buggy ride. Homemade rootbeer float treats. Our favorite goodies, cider, and bread at the Amish Market, and our favorite soft pretzels. 

Beau even got to take the reins for a little while!

November Fall Fun

We have had such a gorgeous fall. Gorgeous, mild weather. Lots of sunshine. And, the late fall especially had spectacular leaves. 

The boys had a lot of fun with the gigantic leaf pile our lawn company made in front of our house. Here are the younger boys enjoying a morning recess before school work. 

Lewis, David, and I finally enjoyed biking to Rosedale park on the new path and new bridges. It is such a lovely ride! 

Beau has been asking me to take him to the Porche shop on the way home from fencing. We stopped by one evening and he loved looking at all the fancy cars! 

I also need to take a minute to celebrate the election!!! It was an anxious week for us! Both me and Mike had nightmares leading up to election day. We really didn't know which way it was going to go. PHEW!!!! I feel so grateful! 

I had taken two of our YSA women out to lunch in Princeton on the day that the election was called - the Saturday after election day. Cars would drive by honking and playing music. Everyone on the streets would start clapping and cheering in response. That lasted at least a few hours. It was so festive and delightful. I think people really were breathing a sigh of relief! 

My outdoor teaching for Music Together has been one of the highlights of my whole fall. I love it so much! Singing in the sunshine, leaves blowing by, birds calling - it's just heaven. Here's a little view of my set up. Seven families in each class come in and set up on the tarps and then we enjoy instruments, dancing, and singing. 

This boy requested his sunny side up eggs outdoors on a particularly beautiful Sunday. Lewis was happy to be his server.

A Mommy-Beau date after fencing. We had to move martial arts to the same evening as fencing one week because they had cancelled the class on Veteran's Day. So, we had a Panera date before heading to his second activity of the night. 

Lewis came up with a very thoughtful and generous scheme to rake leaves for money. I was happy to oblige. (Don't tell him we pay for lawn service anyway! But, who doesn't want to encourage their 11 year old to work! Plus then we had leave piles to jump in!) He and David had a great time jumping!
