Hike in Kunkel with David

My little buddy is always up for a hike or bike or outing with me! We had a really lovely spring walk in Kunkel together. I'm so grateful that this shut down is happening during Pennington's beautiful spring!

Homeschool routines

We've started a tradition many days. Around 11, we take a quick break from school work and have tea and biscuits.

Lots of pom pom jars happening!

And, Lewis is able to do his boys dance class online - the one he took for a couple years but had to drop this year because of boy choir. That's been a fun bonus.

Fun at home

Dancing with Daddy
Their signature move from when Beau was little.

Beau was so sweet.
David has really been struggling with the corona shut down and not being able to go to school and play with his friends. I have always thought that he is my most social kid, and he has always thrived from being with his wonderful friends at school, from having a schedule and routine, and from getting out on adventures and outings. Now that he can't have any of that, he's really been feeling the deficit and has been weepy and testy. He just hasn't been thriving. I asked the older boys to make an extra effort to play with him, as it's easy for them to just play with each other and not him. Beau was so kind to play soccer outside with David.

And, more music videos for me!

Boys at work

Boys at work, and often that work is play!

Beau creates a wonderful stuffed animal fort.

And, David's been starting to learn some words that we are putting on his word wall. I pick a word from each book that we read together for him to learn. Slow and steady is the way we learn!

More homeschool

Here is Beau doing some trivia together.

Then Daddy reading the Berenstain Bears book about Forgetting your manners. He wisely and with great energy and love kicked off a politeness and manners reward jar that was a great boost to our week. And, the boys loved his reading.

Lewis and David often love working on building projects together - puzzles, legos, etc.

Cute boys together on our walk

Love it when these boys love each other!

Tyler State Park

We spent a completely delightful Saturday at Tyler State Park. It was amazing to see how many people were there; we could hardly get a parking spot! What an amazing state of affairs. With all events and activities and places closed, everyone is just outside enjoying nature.

We spent a lot of time skipping and throwing rocks. We hiked and went off trail a lot, climbing on logs, scaling the hills, and acting out the three billy goats gruff. It was so nice.

Parents hard at work too

Don't forget the parents hard at work too!

Kids hard at work

Here are my boys hard at work. The older two have online assignments sent from school. David and I do phonics, reading, writing, mazes, addition, and sometimes music.
